Acre Rigg Academy

Acre Rigg Academy is a two-form entry junior school for children from 7 to 11, serving the area of Peterlee.

The school building was officially opened in September 1955 and comprises of a single floor building, housing 12 classrooms on a semi-open plan basis, an assembly hall, dining hall and kitchen.  The school has extensive grounds with two play yards, two enclosed garden areas and two large playing fields.  The school shares the site with its feeder school, Acre Rigg Infants.

Acre Rigg Academy seeks to create a lively, warm, caring environment where children are valued both as individuals and as members of the society.  Everyone concerned with the work of the school shares the highest expectations of both academic performance, personal conduct and behaviour.  We recognise the importance of the involvement of parents in their children’s education and we welcome and encourage all parents to take an active interest in all school activities.
